Turner has adopted a uniform policy. This policy is in effect every day, unless the principal authorizes a change in writing. All students are expected to adhere to the uniform policy. The uniform consists of a light blue or white collared shirt and Khaki bottoms (PK3-5th Grade). Shorts may be worn during the appropriate season and should be no more than three inches above the knee. All shirts must be tucked into pants, shorts, or skirt. Teachers should reinforce these expectations daily.

Reminders: The following items violate the uniform policy and are prohibited during school hours and after-school events:

• Bags/purses of any kind (all items must be placed in the locker)
• Lipstick (any color)
• Shiny lip gloss
• Fishnet or stockings with holes
• Head wraps/Bonnets/Durags
• High heel or platform shoes
• Form fitting uniform pants or shorts
• Cut off pants made into shorts
• Extended eyelashes

Please note: These uniform updates are in place to promote a learning environment that is clutter free and without distraction. It also keeps students safe as it limits hiding places for toys and electronics or other unwanted items.

2408.13-15 of DCMR Permits the application of consequences for students who continuously violate the uniform policy. However, every effort will be made to ensure that students are properly outfitted in school apparel. For students who demonstrate need please inform Ms. Cherry. Ms. Cherry will manage the “uniform” loaner closet.
