Arrival

Each student enrolled at Turner is expected to attend school every day for the entire school day unless there is an exceptional health or family reason that prevents attendance. Doors open at 8:05. The transition to class begins at 8:30 AM. Attendance and tardiness will be recorded in each classroom shortly after the beginning of the school day and promptly forwarded to the designated school administrator.

Tardiness: Classes begin at 8:45 AM. Students should be in class and ready to learn by 8:30 AM. In order to be on time students should walk into the building at 8:20 AM or earlier. A student is considered tardy if he or she is not in class by 8:45 AM. To facilitate this, teachers are waiting in the cafeteria for the morning reading program to welcome students at 8:10 AM.

Students who are tardy miss important information, do not get off to a strong start for the day, and disrupt class because the teacher has to accommodate their late arrival. If a student is tardy repeatedly follow up will take place to increase attendance regularity.

Dismissal

Students are dismissed promptly at 3:15 PM each day. Dismissal occurs from the homeroom class, and it must be done in an orderly manner. Teachers and instructional aides must dismiss from the cafeteria.

Procedures for ECE - K: At 3:10 PM teachers close instruction (closing circle), students pack up and transition in a line to the cafeteria.
